National Service Partners

America's Promise Alliance

The America's Promise Alliance is the nation's largest multi-sector collaborative dedicated to the well-being of children and youth.  The Alliance partners consist of businesses, youth-serving organizations, elected officials, educators, faith-based organizations, funders, etc. who are dedicated to seeing that children and youth experience the fundamental resources they need to succeed.  The National Runaway Switchboard became a member of America's Promise Alliance in 2008.

American School Health Association (ASHA)

The American School Health Association unites the many professionals working in schools who are committed to safeguarding the health of school-aged children. ASHA's mission is to protect and promote the health and well-being of children and youth through coordinated school health programs as a foundation for school success.  ASHA became a supporting partner of National Runaway Prevention Month in 2007.

Circle of Parents

This organization’s goals are to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to strengthen families. Using self-help support groups, parents and guardians have the ability to discuss parenting tools with others. And while parents or guardians are in these meetings, children can participate in educational and social development programs. Circle of Friends has affiliated groups in the following states: WA, ID, MT, CO, ND, SD, NE, KS, TX, MN, MO, IL, WI, MI, TN, MS, LA, FL, NC, VA, PA, CT, RI, MA, CT, NH, ME, and VT. Circle of Parents has been a supporting partner of National Runaway Prevention Month since 2006.

Girls, Inc.

Girls, Inc. is a national nonprofit youth organization dedicated to inspiring girls to be strong, smart, and bold. This organization provides innovative and vital educational programs to help girls confront subtle societal messages about their value and potential, as well as prepare them to lead successful, independent, and fulfilling lives.  Girls, Inc. major programs address math and science education, pregnancy and drug abuse prevention, media literacy, economic literacy, adolescent health, violence prevention, and sports participation.  In 2008, Girls, Inc. signed on as a supporting partner of the National Runaway Prevention Month.

National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY)

NAEHCY is the only professional organization specifically dedicated to meeting the educational needs of children and youth experiencing homelessness. Accordingly, they are the only association specifically dedicated to providing professional development, resources, and training support for people, who support the academic success homeless children and youth: local homeless education liaisons, teachers, school counselors and social workers, registrars, nurses, child advocates, shelter staff, community service organization partners. NAEHCY signed on as a supporting partner of National Runaway Prevention Month in 2008.

National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE)

NCHE provides research, resources, and information enabling communities to address the educational needs of children experiencing homelessness. NCHE serves as a clearinghouse of information for people seeking to remove or overcome educational barriers and to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for children and youth experiencing homelessness. They also support educators and service providers through producing training and awareness materials and providing training at regional and national conferences and events.  NCHE signed on as supporting partners of National Runaway Prevention Month in 2008.

National Network for Youth (NN4Y)

NN4Y is an organization devoted to being an advocate for at-risk youth. By working with federal and state officials, this organization is working to formulate public policy that serves this community’s needs. In addition, National Network for Youth disseminates information and provides professional training on youth-related issues.  In 2002, NN4Y became co-sponsor of National Runaway Prevention Month.


National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)

The National Association of School Psychologists represents and supports school psychology through leadership to enhance the mental health and educational competence of all children.  NASP publishes position papers, issues awards and grants, holds annual conferences, and supports state psychology associations.  NASP became a supporting partner of National Runaway Prevention Month in 2005.

National Assembly of School-based Health Care (NASBHC)

Providing school-based health care for all children and adolescents is the focus of this organization. In order to achieve this, not only is NASBHC an advocate, but it also provides technical assistance and resources to those health facilities that provide services to youth.  NASBHC has been a proud supporting partner of National Runaway Prevention Month since 2005.

National Association of School Nurses (NASN)

The National Association of School Nurses improves the health and educational success of children and youth by developing and providing leadership to advance school nursing practice.  The core purpose of NASN is to promote student success through the advancement of school health services by professional registered school nurses.  NASN became a supporting partner of National Runaway Prevention Month in 2007.

National Safe Place

Serving youth in crisis, Safe Place has coordinated with various entities around the country, such as businesses and schools, to provide Safe Place locations – a Safe Place displays the yellow and black Safe Place sign- and at-risk youth can enter to receive help or gets referrals to a service agency. Safe Place provide also educates the public on the dangers of running away.  NSP partnership with NRS and National Runaway Prevention Month began in 2005.

National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH)

Servicing all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, this 24-hour, 7 day a week hotline (1800-799-SAFE) provides crisis intervention, safety information, and referrals. Calls can be done in Spanish while the hotline can get interpreter services for 140 additional languages.
